Swiss Dive Watches
Davosa surprised me with the Apnea Diver because they actually managed to do something few brands are able to do these days. What's that? Make a diver's watch that looks nice, but doesn't look like everyone else's product. The reality is that most of the time when a watch brand wants to produce anything but a "me too" design, the result feels lacking (or simply ugly).
Sit down and have a serious discussion with any budding watch collector and you can probably bet that at some point, the two of you will eventually land on the topic of dive watches. There's no way around it – we're crazy about them, obsessed with the durability, and in some cases, I've seen folks collect hundreds of them, if not more. But that can get, boring, right?
It took Roger Dubuis months to get a proper press release out on this watch with specs. I took images of the new Easy Diver watches back in January 2010, and am only now able to share them with you. I wanted some hard details to go along with the images. Prices will start at $12,900 for the subsidiary second model versions. Here are two different models. The sub seconds version and the chronograph. While the EasyDiver Chronograph is a sexy number, I think the real momentum is with the time only model.
Continuing the tradition of a recent partnership with the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), Swiss Seiko has announced a new addition to the line-up known as the Seiko Prospex Special Edition PADI SPB071J1. When aBlogtoWatch announced the new collaboration back in 2016, it was obvious that fans of the brand were excited not only about the new color options, but the ability to commemorate the completion of their PADI certification process with a great watch.
In 2017 Swiss Omega released a slew of new Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M watch models, which offered easy to miss, albeit important changes to the brand's premier sports lifestyle dress watch. Sport-style dress watches are important in many markets such as the United States, where elegance as well as masculinity are key areas of interest for many consumers.
Kyle, the founder of micro-band Straton Watch Co.. Yesterday was the launch of his latest Kickstarter campaign for the Straton Syncro – a motor-sport inspired pilot/diver hybrid watch. The campaign was funded within just a few hours – as of this writing the campaign has over $120,000 pledged, far more than the modest goal of $15,000. And it’s only day two of the 30 day campaign.
Well! There's no secrect that the Rolex Submariner is one of the most popular dive watches of all time, easily shown by the number of copieshomages available today. While reading an article about the history of the Rolex Submariner, I found myself wanting a visual guide to the various changes made throughout the years to the iconic diver. Check it out, below.
Until about 50 years ago, diving was considered as an activity that is exclusively for men. Today, more than a third of all trainees are women. For women (and men of course), a nice dive watch can help ensure your safety when diving. And what’s more, a dive watch can be a great fashion accessory as well. It signifies toughness and confidence, which can really belie the “weaker sex” image. For ordinary swimming and jogging activities, it’s a perfect companion.
